When I was a little boy, I fell in love both with Sparky and with his Magic Piano. Now, thanks to the wizardry of Sibelius, I can have a Magic Piano all of my own. Sadly, unlike Sparky’s, my magic piano can do nothing to improve my keyboard skills, indeed it is highly unlikely that anyone could build it in the physical world, or if they did, whether anybody could play it. But instrument-makers and performers continue to surprise us, so who knows?

Again unlike Sparky’s instrument, mine owes nothing to real magic, and everything to mere conjuring with arithmetic and computer code. But I hope you enjoy this little piece, with all its artificiality and artifice.
